What is Acyclovir :
Acyclovir is a synthetic purine nucleoside anti vi ral drug and is one of the most commonly used anti vi ral drugs.

Applications of Acyclovir :

1. Acyclovir is mainly used for various infections caused by herpes simplex vir us, and can be used for initial or recurrent skin, mucous membrane, external genital infection and HSV infection in immunocompromised persons.

2. Acyclovir is the drug of choice for the treatment of HSV encephalitis, and it is superior to vidarabine in reducing morbidity and mortality.

3. Acyclovir can also be used for herpes zoster, Epstein-Barr vir us, and immunodeficiency complicated by chickenpox and other infections.
