A thrilling comeback helped the Mineral Area 10u baseball All-Stars return home from Denver as champions of the Midwest Plains Regional tournament two weeks ago. The reigning Missouri state title holders trailed by three runs in the seventh inning of a regional final, but stormed back to score four times and claim an 11-10 triumph. Their attention has since turned to the Cal Ripken League World Series, which begins with a pool play contest against Newtown (Conn.) on Saturday afternoon in Crown Point, Ind. Mineral Area team members are: Malakai Hull, Henry Schweiss, Ruger Shelton, Jack Schweiss, Tripp Dotson, Brock Johnson, Liam Hull, Breyer Buhrmester, Eli Black, Rhys Keutzer, Brantley Fowler, Brooks Bates, Kade Dreier, Hayden Shannon, Tripp Becker, Korbin Thurston, Jada Hull, Kenzlee Shelton and Blakely Bates. The grand stage features 25 teams with a true international flavor – divided evenly among five pools – converging on the host city located about 50 miles southeast of Chicago. Australia, Germany, Panama and the Czech Republic will be represented, along with 11 states. Each club has four pool games scheduled over four days.
